The Channel tunnel is 31 miles long.<\/p>\n<p>Engineers will submit a blueprint to the government by April for the tunnel and work could start as early as 2015 or 2016, the China Daily newspaper reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive2.ankakh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/tunnel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-69569\" alt=\"\u0569\u0578\u0582\u0576\u0565\u056c\" src=\"https:\/\/archive2.ankakh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/tunnel.jpg\" width=\"634\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive2.ankakh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/tunnel.jpg 634w, https:\/\/archive2.ankakh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/tunnel-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive2.ankakh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/tunnel-490x300.jpg 490w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The tunnel will run from the port city of Dalian in northeastern Liaoning province to Yantai city in eastern Shandong, slashing travel time to 40 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At present, the journey between the cities is a 1,400-km (870 miles) drive or an eight-hour ferry ride, the China Daily said.<\/p>\n<p><em id=\"__mceDel\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive2.ankakh.com\/\">\u00a0\u0531\u0576\u056f\u0561\u056d<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chinese engineers have unveiled plans to build the world\u2019s longest tunnel.
