Israel was going to take the first steps toward a ground offensive in Rafah this week, but has postponed those plans as it considers a response to the Iranian attack, two Israeli sources told CNN.
Iran launched 300 missiles and drones toward Israel on Sunday night, triggering a new phase of tension in the Middle East.
The attack prompted Israel to postpone plans for an offensive on Rafah, where more than a million people are currently sheltering. Sources said the Israeli Air Force had planned to scatter leaflets in parts of the city on Monday.
An Israeli official said Israel remains determined to conduct a ground offensive in the southern city, although the timing of the civilian evacuation and the upcoming ground offensive remains unclear at this point.
