Has Madonna ditched Kabbalah for Islam? Singer reveals she is studying the Koran

Madonna

It is almost a quarter of a century since she first sang Like A Prayer.

But it seems the intervening years have done little to help Madonna decide exactly who she’s praying to.

For it appears the queen of re-invention may be on the verge of one of her most startling changes yet, after she revealed she was studying the Koran.

The 55-year-old was raised a Roman Catholic, but for the past 17 years she has been a devout follower of Kabbalah, a mystical offshoot of Judaism.

Now the singer, whose current partner is a Muslim, has begun investigating Islam.

She said: ‘I am building schools for girls in Islamic countries and studying the Koran.

‘I think it is important to study all the holy books.

‘As my friend Yaman always tells me, a good Muslim is a good Jew, and a good Jew is a good Christian, and so forth. I couldn’t agree more.

Madonna has followed Kabbalah since 1996. She famously  persuaded her former husband, British director Guy Ritchie, to attend Kabbalah services before they split in 2008. But she and her current partner Brahim Zaibat, 25, have reportedly argued about religion because of his Muslim faith.

Madonna is said to dilute her children’s orange juice with specially blessed Kabbalah water, and often wears white clothes because they attract ‘positive energy’.

Madonna Ranked by Forbes as World’s Highest-Earning Celebrity

madonnaAnchored on the immense success of her top-grossing tour, iconic diva Madonna tops Forbes’ highest-earning celebrities list, with $125 million in estimate earnings for the period from June 2012 to June 2013. The 55-year-old Material Girl bested other A-listers in the roster like filmmaker Steven Spielberg and TV personality Simon Cowell. Despite the lackluster sales performance of her album “MDNA”, the $305 million that its supporting world tour brought in was enough to boost Madonna’s earnings ahead of the pack. Adding to her total are profits from merchandise and other business ventures like her fragrance and clothing line. Spielberg took the runner-up spot, earning $25 million less than the pop diva, mainly from the box-office success of his latest film, the award-winning “Lincoln”, plus the royalties he earns from his extensive library of films. Just $5 million short of his $100 million total are Cowell, “Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James, and radio show host & “America’s Got Talent” judge Howard Stern who are tied for the third place. Lady GaGa, who’s known for emulating the Queen of Pop, placed tenth on the list with $80 million, because of her “Born This Way Ball” tour getting cut short by her hip injury and subsequent surgery.

Lady Gaga, Madonna Facing Punishment in Russia

gty_gty_gaga_madonna_kb_130804_16x9_608Pop stars Lady Gaga and Madonna are facing punishment in Russia after authorities determined they violated their visas when they held concerts there last year.

Technically, the artists were not allowed to work in Russia on their tourist visas, but experts say it appears the visa warning is a veiled attempt punish the pop stars for their vocal support of gay rights in Russia.

The investigation into their visas came at the urging of a lawmaker who has spearheaded Russia’s anti-gay campaign.

During concerts in St. Petersburg last year, both Lady Gaga and Madonna denounced the city’s harsh anti-gay law from the stage.

“Tonight, this is my house Russia. You can be gay in my house,” Lady Gaga said during her performance in December.

A few months earlier, Madonna made similar comments during her concert.

“Gay people here and all around the world have the same rights,” she said.

Those comments have landed the pop stars in hot water in Russia. The two have been accused of spreading what the law calls “gay propaganda” under St. Petersburg’s anti-gay law.

Russia hasn’t announced any plans to prosecute the pop stars, but if convicted they could face steep fines or even be banned from entering the country.

So far there has been no response yet from either Lady Gaga or Madonna.
