Five doctors jailed for Kosovo organ trafficking

imagesAn EU-led court in Kosovo on Monday sentenced five doctors to up to eight years in prison for illegal organ harvesting and transplants.

Former Kosovo health minister Ilir Rrecaj — who admitted during the trial that he knew that illegal kidney transplants were carried out at the Medicus clinic in Pristina in 2008, but denied covering them up — was acquitted.
Prominent Pristina urologist Lutfi Dervishi got the stiffest term of eight years for “organised crime and human trafficking,” the judge said in the verdict.
His son Arban Dervishi was sentenced to seven years and three months while the other three defendants received between one and three years imprisonment.
The indictment says that at least 30 illegal kidney removals and transplants were carried out at the clinic in the Kosovo capital in 2008.

Afghan president confirms receiving CIA cash

3Աֆղանստանի նախագահը աստատում է, որ ԿՀՎ-ից ստացել է գումարAfghan President Hamid Karzai confirmed Monday that his office has received money from the US Central Intelligence Agency over the past decade, with wads of cash reportedly handed over in suitcases and backpacks.
Karzai thanked the US spy agency for what he said was money well spent just hours after The New York Times reported that Karzai’s office received tens of millions of dollars in cash in a CIA effort to win influence.
“Yes, the NSC of Afghanistan has received money from CIA in the past 10 years. The amount was not big, rather it was small,” Karzai said in a statement, referring to the National Security Council which is part of his office.
Karzai said the money had been used for good causes in Afghanistan, where endemic corruption has undermined efforts to establish a stable state, more than 11 years after the US-led invasion to dislodge the Taliban.
“The money was spent for different reasons: operation objectives, helping wounded and sick (people) and for house rents and others objectives,” the president said, without giving further details.

Botswana President Ian Khama wounded by cheetah

13c0f12c792a2b6f72e49e86725a7b86Botswana President Ian Khama has had stitches in his face after being scratched by a cheetah, officials say. The animal was reportedly being fed in its enclosure at an army barracks when it jumped up and scratched Mr Khama, who was standing nearby. The incident was “a freak accident, but not an attack”, government spokesman Jeff Ramsay told local media. Mr Khama’s injuries were minor and there were “no real security implications”, the official added. The incident is said to have happened very fast, catching the president and his bodyguard by surprise. “He was scratched by a cheetah but not really attacked per se,” said Mr Ramsay. Mr Khama was seen sporting a plaster at a meeting following the attack. Cheetahs, the world’s fastest land mammals, are listed as an endangered species. Around 12,400 are thought to remain in the wild in African countries, including Botswana.

It’s over! ‘Marc Anthony dumps Topshop heiress Chloe Green just weeks after she moves to US’

m1Jennifer Lopez’s ex Marc Anthony has dumped Chloe Green just weeks after the Topshop heiress moved to the US, according to claims.

Father-of-five Marc reportedly told Chloe their romance was over and the designer, who at 22 is just three years older than her lover’s oldest daughter, moved her belongings out of their shared Miami house.

Chloe, whose father Sir Philip is worth an estimated £3.8billion, was first spotted out with J-Lo’s ex in February.

It is thought Sir Philip, who is good friends with Marc. had given his seal of approval to the union.

A source told The Sun On Sunday: ‘The pair got serious very quickly and had the blessing of her parents, but it hasn’t worked out.

‘It seems to have been Marc’s decision to end it.’

The pal added the decision to split was sudden and Chloe has now left Miami to go on holiday with friends to recover.

Marc was married to J-Lo for eight years and has twins Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximillian David Muñiz with the star.

He also has a daughter Ariana from his relationship with former New York police officer Debbie Rosado and two sons with ex-wife former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres.

MailOnline has contacted Chloe and Marc for a comment.
