Hilarious video of Tippy the fainting squirrel who appears to have over done it on the nuts goes viral

A squirrel who is apparently in the grip of a fainting fit has stolen the hearts – and piqued the curiosity – of internet users.

A minute-long clip shows a black squirrel standing and and nibbling a nut. It then suddenly freezes and falls to the ground for several seconds.

Then, just as inexplicably, the adorable rodent stands back up and starts chewing again, before again tipping over. And again. And again.

The video has spread across the internet, with commenters on various forums speculating as to what could be behind the showing the squirrel’s bizarre behaviour.

Theories have ranged from narcolepsy to heart problems, drunkenness caused by eating fermented food, brain damage, or even a nut allergy.

The clip was originally uploaded to YouTube on November 25 by Honor Via with no additional information about where it was taken.

It has already been viewed nearly 500,000 times on the video sharing website.

‘Hope he stays out of trees till he’s better,’ one sympathetic commenter wrote.

A witness testifying in Kenya in the trial of a former diplomat charged with the murder of the acting Venezuelan ambassador says the embassy’s diplomatic bag was used to traffic drugs.

Prosecution witness Kevin Lameck, who worked as a driver at the embassy in Nairobi, was answering questions Wednesday from the defense lawyer in the trial of former Venezuelan first secretary Dwight Sagaray.

Sagaray is accused of murdering acting Ambassador Olga Fonseca.

Fonseca was found strangled in the embassy’s official residence on July 27, 2012. She had reported to Kenya only 12 days earlier.

Mexican Truck With Radioactive Load Stolen

The U.N. nuclear agency says a truck carrying an extremely dangerous radioactive substance has been stolen in Mexico.

The International Atomic Energy Agency says the truck was carrying cobalt-60, used for radiotherapy treatment to combat cancer. An IAEA statement Wednesday said the truck was stolen Monday while taking the material to a radioactive waste storage center from the northern city of Tijuana.

It says the heist occurred in Tepojaco, a town near Mexico City, and describes the load as “extremely dangerous” if damaged or removed from its protective shielding.

The statement says that Mexican authorities are searching for the material.

It’s what he would have wanted: The bizarre craze for all-female funeral marching bands sweeping Taiwan

Թայվան, հյուղարկավորություն, կանանց նվագախումբ,մահացած

In Taiwan families are taking a different approach to saying goodbye to their loved ones – by hiring all-female marching bands to perform during the service.

Complete with white Go-go boots and matching uniforms, the women twirl batons and play instruments while marching around the dead body.

The service, which lasts two to three hours, has been set up by Yuan-Rong Life which has a popular marching troupe called ‘Xiu Juan Female Music Band’.

Թայվան, հյուղարկավորություն, կանանց նվագախումբ,մահացած

For small services Yuan-Rong recommends less than eight band members – costing £27 each – but for larger memorials more.

It is not the first time Taiwan has raised a few eyebrows with their taste of funeral ceremonies.

Strippers are sometimes hired who dance for the deceased.

The Taiwanese phenomenon is labelled by some as scandalous, but many hail it as an important part of the grieving process – and the perfect way of sending off their loved ones with a smile.

China launches first moon mission

China launched its first lunar probe early Monday, which, if all goes well, will make it only the third nation — after the United States and the Soviet Union — to soft-land on the moon.

The Chang’e-3 blasted off from a Long March 3B rocket in Sichuan province located in southwest China and is expected to land on the moon’s surface in mid-December.

The new space effort comes just over a decade after the country first sent an astronaut into space.

Unlike the soft-landing of the U.S. and the Soviet Union’s unmanned spacecraft, Chang’e-3 will be able to survey the landscape first and determine the safest spot.

Researchers say an impact crater named Sinus Iridum, or Bay of Rainbows, is its likely destination. In 2010, China’s previous lunar mission captured images of the crater while scouting potential landing sites for the 2013 probe.

On landing, the spacecraft will release Jade Rabbit (called Yutu in Chinese) — a six-wheeled lunar rover equipped with four cameras and two mechanical legs that can dig up soil samples, a designer for the rover told Xinhua last month. The slow-moving rover will patrol the moon’s surface for at least three months, according to Xinhua.

Young girl had a ‘fully grown’ dandelion inside her EAR and had to have it surgically removed by doctors in China

խատուտիկDoctors were left stunned after discovering a dandelion growing inside the ear canal of a 16-month girl.

The flower was found by medics in Beijing, China, after the child was taken to hospital crying and in pain by her worried mother.

It had partly flowered and had grown to nearly 2cm long before being surgically removed, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

The parents of the girl, called Ranran, said their daughter had been complaining about an earache for four months but both had dismissed her.

But after the girl started scratching the offending ear, her mother had a look and saw ‘something’ inside.
After trying and failing to get it out, she took the child to hospital where the shocking discovery was made.

Doctors said the dandelion had grown into the girl’s ear and had completely filled the canal wall, which could have caused the infant serious damage.

The warm and humid conditions in the ear canal are likely to have encouraged growth, added the doctor.

It is far from the first time a disturbing discovery has been made in someone’s ear.

In July, an English woman who had unexplained headaches learned that her ears were filled with flesh-eating worms she picked up in Peru.

And last year, a woman in China who complained of an itch was found to have a spider living inside.

Commuters PUSH train off a suicidal woman who had jumped in front of it on Japanese subway

Ճապոնիա,գնացք

A woman trapped under a train was freed when commuters worked together to push it backwards.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon on the JR Yamanote Line at Shibuya Station in Tokyo, Japan.

The woman, reportedly in her 60s, was heard crying out for help from beneath the train and she lay between the rails of the track.

Reports in Japan suggested the elderly woman had attempted to kill herself by jumping in front of the oncoming train.

Then, following an announcement over the station’s public address system informing commuters that a woman was trapped beneath the train and asking for their help, the crowd intervened.

Dozens of people managed to push the carriage back far enough for station staff to be able to help her.

The woman was freed at taken to hospital for treatment.

Reports suggest that the accident, which occurred just before the evening rush hour, affected more than 26,000 commuters along the line.

In July earlier this year, Japanese commuters helped another stranger in need.
On July 22, around forty passengers at the JR Minami-Urawa station, just outside Tokyo, helped push a 32-ton train carriage to free a woman trapped in the platform gap during rush hour on a Monday.

Japanese man wins fortune from hospital after birth-switch resulted in him being raised in poverty instead of riches

ծննդյան նշան

An elderly Japanese man who was given to the wrong parents at birth has successfully sued a hospital because he was raised in poverty instead of in a life of luxury.

The 60-year-old man, who is keeping his identity secret, said he wishes he could ‘roll back the clock’ after learning that his real parents were wealthy and that his true brothers enjoyed a lavish lifestyle.

Instead, the man was raised by his non-biological mother, who was also struggling to support her other children following the death of her husband.

The baby she came away with by mistake from the hospital 60 years ago grew up through a life of welfare hardship and became an unmarried truck driver.

Now a Tokyo district court has ordered the hospital to pay £250,000 in damages for its 1953 error, which saw the man switched with another baby boy who came into the world just 13 minutes later.

The decades-old mistake was realised when the wealthy family’s three younger brothers had DNA testing done on their oldest sibling – who looked nothing like them – after their parents died.

Then they set out checking hospital records before confirming the identity of their biological eldest brother last year.

All four brothers – including the one who should have had a more lowly upbringing due to the accidental switch – have now formed a bond and are working on rebuilding the lost years.

Police Arrest Nigerian With Cocaine Worth $500,000

Police say they have arrested a 28-year-old Nigerian carrying a half million dollars’ worth of cocaine stashed in speakers that he carried from Sao Paolo, in Brazil, to the northern Nigerian city of Kano.

Commandant Ambrose Umoru said Maduagwu Nnaemeka was arrested at KanoInternationalAirport on Wednesday with 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) of pure cocaine with a street value of 81 million naira.

Nnaemeka told reporters at a news conference Wednesday that he was given the speakers at Sao Paolo airport by a Nigerian stranger who begged him to carry them to Kano. He said he knew nothing about the cocaine they carried.

The U.N. Office on Drugs and Crimes estimates between 25 and 66 percent of cocaine bound for Europe from South America passes through West Africa.

Iran Detains 2 Saudi Fishing Boats

ձկնորսական նավ

An Iranian news agency says two Saudi fishing vessels have been seized after allegedly entering Iranian waters in the latest dispute over maritime boundaries between Iran and Gulf Arab states.

Fishing boats and other craft are occasionally held for apparent violations of territorial limits in the Gulf, but the disputes are usually ended quickly. Saudi Arabia and Iran are main regional rivals and any conflicts have the potential to escalate.

The semiofficial Fars news agency reported Wednesday that nine fishermen from various nations were on the two vessels detained off Bushehr province. No other details were given.

In January, Saudi Arabia detained 21 Iranians on two commercial boats that allegedly ended Saudi waters.

South African officials say 33 poached rhino horns and hundreds of chopsticks and bracelets made from elephant ivory that were seized in Hong Kong have been returned to South Africa.

South Africa’s environment ministry said Wednesday that authorities will study the seized items in hopes of identifying and arresting poachers and couriers involved in the illegal shipment.

The ministry says Hong Kong customs officials seized the items in November 2011 from a container that had been shipped from Cape Town harbor.

A forensic study has concluded that very young rhinos, as well as adult animals, were killed for their horns.

For centuries the Great Wall proved impenetrable to China’s enemies – but now it’s being destroyed from within… by farmers

չինական Մեծ պատ

The Great Wall of China is famous for being the largest man-made structure in the world stretching thousands of miles.

Despite surviving more than 2,000 years, it is now in danger of being destroyed by farmers.

Nearly two-thirds of the wall has now been damaged or ruined, according to Li Lin of the China Great Wall Society.

It was built by the Qin Dynasty about 2,200 years ago and was rebuilt by the Ming Dynasty 700 years later.

Despite surviving for more than 2,000 years, it is now being destroyed by farmers living around the structure who has been turning it into pathways, shelters and even fertilisers for crops.

In 2006, the government published the Great Wall Protection Regulations and a 10-year protection project.

But the regulations have not been properly enforced in rural areas.

չինական Մեծ պատ

Sections of the Wall north of Beijing and near tourist centres have been preserved and even extensively renovated.

In poorer parts of the country the Wall is sometimes used as a village playground or is used as a source of stones for rebuilding houses and roads.

More than 37 miles in the Gansu province may disappear in the next two decades.

The wall goes from Shanhaiguan in the east, to Lop Lake in the west, an area that loosely represents the southern edge of Inner Mongolia.

Անգոլա,լուանդա,իսլամ

Minister of culture Rosa Cruz e Silva said that mosques in the largely Christian country would be closed until further notice.

She described Islam as a ‘sect’ that would be banned as counter to Angolan customs and culture.
There are unconfirmed reports that mosques across the African country are being destroyed, according to the International Business Times.

President Jose Edurado dos Santos reportedly told the Osun Defence daily: ‘This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country.’

Clashes between Christians and Muslim people are frequently reported in the local media.

Pipeline explosion kills 22 in China, report says

Չինաստան,պայթյուն

An oil pipeline exploded Friday in eastern China, killing at least 22 people, the state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

Authorities were still trying to determine the number of those injured, after the pipeline caught fire near the port city of Qingdao, about 300 miles north of Shanghai.

The oil line sprung a leak in the pre-dawn hours, Xinhua said, citing the city government. The oil flow was cut off, and workers went out to repair the breach. The explosion occurred in the late morning.

The pipeline, which is 176 kilometers (109 miles) long, belongs to Chinese petroleum giant Sinopec and connects the oil port to chemical plants further inland.

Maritime authorities are checking the coastline for possible oil leaks, Xinhua said. None have been reported so far.

HOMENEWSWORLDRADIOLOG INE-MAIL ALERTSSUBSCRIBECLASSIFIEDSE-EDITION Indian girl, 8, divorces husband of 4 years

An 8-year old girl has become the youngest ever to divorce in India after she was married off four years ago.

Fatima Mangre was given away at the age of 4 by her father Anil, from the Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh state, to a 10-year-old boy named Arjun Bakridi, but when the boy arrived last week to take away his bride, the father regretted the decision and decided to file for divorce, the Daily Mail reported.

“I finally realized that this practice of marrying off daughters so young was wrong and that she should have a childhood, and that it was my duty to provide that,” he said. “I now want to make things right. I want to give my daughter a good childhood. I will do everything to protect her.”

Government officials are investigating the divorce after the New Delhi-based National Commission for Women (NCW) sent a letter threatening action against the parents of the girl and the boy, the report said.

“This is a scandal, we need more details before taking action,” said the NCW’s Nirmala Samant. “The girl’s father must answer why he married her off at four years old and the boy’s father must answer why he agreed to such a marriage and then went to demand the girl when she is barely eight years old.”

The Shravasti district accounts for the majority underage weddings in India where the female literacy is just 19 percent, the Daily Mail reported.

India to put monkeys on the pill in bid to tackle rising population of marauding macaques

Հնդկաստան,կապիկներ

Indian council chiefs have come up with a novel way of dealing with a scourge of marauding monkeys – putting them on the pill.

New Delhi is currently plagued by thousands of red-bottomed Rhesus Macaques or Bhandar monkeys and their population is rising.

The primates often attack people to steal food, chew through internet cables and roam free through government buildings.

In 2007 Delhi’s deputy mayor SS Bajwa died after falling from his first-floor terrace trying to fight off monkeys.
The city had previously employed monkey catchers who would use larger black-faced Langur monkeys to scare the smaller primates away.

But the practise was banned earlier this year forcing officials to come up with a new solution.

India’s Central Zoo Authority got in touch with the National Primate Centre in California which recommended using oral contraceptives, female sterilisation and vasectomies, officials said.

The oral contraceptives will be put in food and left for the monkeys to find while those that can be caught will be sterilised.

Professor P.C. Tyagi of the Wildlife Institute of India said the plan would only get the go-ahaead when they were sure it would have no harmful effect on the animals or their behaviour.

Two miners killed, 20 injured after Colorado mine blast

Colorado mine blast

Two people are dead and at least 20 injured following an explosion Sunday morning at a Colorado mine.

The 7.20am blast killed two people at the Ouray County mine, a further 20 were taken to local hospitals. Operator Star Mines has accounted for all other employees.

A Star Mines spokesperson told the Plain Dealer that the injuries came from workers inhaling toxic chemicals and gases immediately after a ‘powder smoke incident’ triggered the blast.

The miners are suspected to have inhaled nitrogen dioxide and carbon dioxide, the paper added.

The mine is located in southwest Colorado almost 300 miles north of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Will the losers get the hump? Indians bedeck camels in beads and jewellery in contest to find world’s prettiest

These remarkable pictures show a selection of elaborately adorned animals taking part in the prettiest camel competition.

The camels can be seen dressed in coat-like decorations made entirely from brightly coloured pom-poms and other woven materials. The animals even have necklaces and headdresses – decorated with delicate jewels and beads.

The competition was held at the Pushkar Fair, in the Thar desert, India this week.

The gathering – during which in the region of 20,000 camels are bought and sold – attracts thousands of tourists from around the world.

The camel beauty pageant, which has been held for decades, is taken very seriously. In fact, one competitor was furious after his pride and joy failed to win top prize.

The Pushkar Fair, otherwise known as Pushkar ka Mela, is held every year. It is a five-day camel and livestock fair and is believed to be one of the world’s largest.

The prettiest camel award is not the only competition the fair hosts – attendees may also compete for the title of ‘longest moustache’ or ‘prettiest bride’.

The Thar Desert, sometimes referred to as the Great Indian Desert, is in the northwestern area of India and forms a natural boundary running along the border between India and Pakistan.
