Schumacher Has ‘Moments of Consciousness,’ Manager Says

Michael Schumacher is now showing “moments of consciousness and awakening,” more than three months after suffering serious head injuries in a skiing accident, the retired Formula One star’s manager said Friday.

Schumacher, 45, fell while skiing in France on Dec. 29 and hit the right side of his head on a rock, cracking his helmet. Doctors operated to remove blood clots from his brain, but some were left because they were too deeply embedded.

Schumacher’s condition stabilized after he was placed in a drug-induced coma. In late January, doctors at a hospital in the French city of Grenoble began the process of withdrawing sedatives to try to wake him up.

Schumacher’s manager added that she and Schumacher’s family “do not intend to disclose details. This is necessary to protect the privacy of Michael and his family, and to enable the medical team to work in full calmness.”

Clinton says he ‘wouldn’t be surprised if we were visited by aliens’

Bill Clinton thinks we might not be alone.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, the former president said he wouldn’t be surprised if we were visited by aliens one day.

‘We know now we live in an ever-expanding universe,’ Clinton told Kimmel. ‘We know there are billions of stars and planets literally out there – and the universe is getting bigger.

‘We know from our fancy telescopes that just in the last two years more than 20 planets have been identified outside our solar system that seem to be far enough away from their suns – and dense enough – that they might be able to support some form of life.’

He added: ‘So it makes it increasing less likely that we’re alone.’

But when Kimmel pushed on whether there actually are aliens, Clinton responded: ‘I’m trying to tell you I don’t know.’

Clinton assured Kimmel that soon after he became president, he instructed his aides to research Area 51, the Nevada military facility, to make sure there were no aliens there.

He said that while he had no evidence of aliens, he said that their existence could have surprising benefits for the world.

‘It may be the only way to unite this increasingly divided world of ours… think about all the differences among people of Earth would seem small if we feel threatened by a space invader,’ Clinton said.

‘That’s the whole theory of Independence Day. Everybody gets together and makes nice.’

Seven die in Bangkok explosion after scrap metal dealers try to dismantle WWII bomb with a BLOWTORCH

բանգոկ, պայթյուն

Seven Thai workers were killed and 19 injured when they tried to dismantle a Second World War bomb with a blowtorch.

The device was discovered by builders on a construction site in northern Bangkok’s Lad Plakao neighbourhood, Thailand.

Believing that it had lost its charge, they sold it to men working in a scrap metal warehouse.

The metal workers then began to take the 500lb bomb apart to sell the metal on. The blowtorch caused the bomb to go off, destroying the shop and creating a large crater. It also damaged dozens of adjacent houses and started a large fire.

Police said that five people died at the scene.

Police bomb squad chief Kamthorn Auicharoen said that it was ‘likely this is a bomb dropped from a plane during World War II’.
