Kindergarten head held over China poison deaths

Chinese police have arrested the head of a kindergarten and her associate over the deaths of two children from a rival school who ate yoghurt injected with rat poison, state media said.

The five- and six-year-old girls from northern Hebei province died after eating the yoghurt which they had found in a bag on the side of the road while walking to school with their grandmother.

Cyber pervert took intimate pictures of his neighbours using the webcams on their computers

m2A perverted computer expert took thousands of intimate pictures of his neighbours after infecting their computers with a virus that allowed him to spy on them through their webcams.

Police in Zaragoza, Spain, arrested the 34-year-old man and confiscated his computer hard drive which contained images of hundreds of people who had absolutely no idea they were being spied on.

He had gained access to their computers through wi-fi (wireless) networks before infecting them with a trojan-type virus which he had designed.

As almost all modern laptops, and many desktops, now come with a built in web cams it meant he could spy on them in their own homes, quietly watching them going about their daily business.

Pictures were taken of unwitting computer owners while they were in the bathroom or in the bedroom.

The man was also able to obtain the sensitive information such as passwords.

Investigators said the man, who they described as someone with high technical expertise and few friends, had used a very advanced computer virus.

Michael Jackson family ‘tried drug interventions’

ջեքսոնMichael Jackson’s family tried several times to carry out “interventions” on the singer to help him fight drug addiction, but he denied having a problem, a trial heard.

The late King of Pop’s mother Katherine Jackson told police a few months after his June 2009 death about the attempts to convince her son to do something about his drug abuse, a detective said.

Jackson’s mother accuses AEG of negligently hiring doctor Conrad Murray — who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 over her son’s death — and ignoring signs the singer was deeply unwell, in their pursuit of profits.

AEG claims Murray was hired by Jackson, who it says had had been using propofol to help his chronic insomnia since the 1990s, as well as abusing painkillers for decades.

But Anschutz Entertainment Group lawyer Marvin Putnam argued that the mega pop star had hidden the evidence of his addiction and health woes from everyone, including his family and the concert promoters.

Hong Kong struggles to combat waste crisis

աղբAn army of road sweepers and refuse collectors keep the streets clean in the heart of Hong Kong — but on the outskirts, growing mountains of waste are testament to what campaigners say is an environmental crisis.

While the city may look well-kept, its three huge outdoor landfill sites are piled high with rubbish and are set to reach capacity by 2020, according to the government’s Environmental Protection Department (EPD).

Some predictions say the first will be full in a year or two.

“We need to have a clear roadmap for waste reduction, otherwise our rubbish will be on the streets in seven years’ time,” environmental scientist Professor Jonathan Wong, of the Hong Kong Baptist University , told AFP.

The majority of the 13,000 tonnes of rubbish dumped at landfills in Hong Kong each day is termed ‘municipal solid waste’ (MSW), generated by households, business and industry.
